How to Keep Your Space Clean—When You Don’t Have Time to Clean

Cleaning is one of those things that has to be done often, but most definitely feels like a chore. Sometimes, I don’t think cleaning is too bad when I throw on some music or listen to a good audiobook. But other times, I totally dread cleaning and it’s the last thing I want to do! It’s also so easy to get busy whether you’re dealing with a busy work week, lots of plans or special occasions, or when life just gets crazy. I think we all need a little help from time to time, so I put together my best tips on how to keep your space clean when you don’t have time to clean. A lazy girl’s guide to cleaning, if you will. I know I definitely try to follow these tips and invest in things that will help me clean less and still keep my space tidy! Read on for all of my cleaning hacks.

Invest in Cleaning Products That Make Your Life Easier

There are so many cleaning products out there, you really can’t go wrong. I mean, cleaning is cleaning, right? While I have all of the cleaning basics, for the times I can’t really give my house a good clean, I love an automatic cleaner… aka a robot LOL! Robot vacuums are a great way to keep your floor mess-free while literally putting in zero effort. While it doesn’t get rid of the need for an actual vacuum, for the days or weeks when vacuuming is just not going to happen, the robot vacuum does the job. You can also grab a robot mop if you have tile or wood and want the floors to get a good scrub. I also like using my hand vac throughout the week for a quick and easy clean. I’ll spend 10 minutes going around the house which actually makes a huge difference.

Take 10 Minutes

Cleaning doesn’t have to be an all-day event. I know after a long work week, the last thing I want to do during one of my days off is spend the day scrubbing away. That’s why my next tip is so crucial to keep your space clean – take 10 minutes. What I mean by this is spend just 10 minutes during your day sprucing up your space and picking a few things up. That can be putting away all of the clutter that’s piled up in your living room, or wiping down your kitchen counters and appliances. Just 10 minutes will make a world of difference, especially if you’re doing it daily! You can do this in the morning with coffee, during your lunch break, or quickly before bed. I try and tackle one area a day for 10 minutes so by the end of the week I’ve hit all spaces. It’s quickly become a great habit for me. Try it out!

Have a Space for Everything

If you’ve followed me for a while, you know I love organizing and finding ways to keep things neat and functional. It doesn’t always stay organized despite what you see on IG, but what I’ve found has helped me SO much is having a space for everything. The best way to do this is by properly utilizing your cabinets and storage space! I know different closets or cabinets like in your bathroom can get super cluttered and unorganized so quickly. Trust me, I get it, I just reorganized my bathroom cabinet in this video which made a huge difference. Adding different organizers, caddies, and other pieces that give your items a space to live that is organized and attainable to maintain is an absolute game changer. Using things like an acrylic caddy throughout your home to organize random items keeps things clean with no effort. I also use organizational products like bins and dividers inside of my drawers to keep things neat. Find a few products that work for you and tackle one space at a time!
