Here’s What To Bring On Your Next Road Trip

I know I love a summer road trip and after much trial and error, I’ve figured out what’s best to bring and how to keep it all organized (because you know it can get a little messy in the car when you’re traveling).

Summer is here which means lots of traveling, road trips, and time spent OOO. With the 4th of July around the corner, I’m sure so many of you are headed out for the upcoming long weekend! I know I love a summer road trip and after much trial and error, I’ve figured out what’s best to bring and how to keep it all organized (because you know it can get a little messy in the car when you’re traveling). I put together my road trip essentials so you can comfortably enjoy the journey just as much as the destination.

What to Bring on Your Next Road Trip

Car Organizer

First things first, you have to start with a car organizer. This one is amazing and I’ve been using it for years! It has 3 main compartments for spacious organization and is fully water-resistant to protect from messes. I love that it’s expandable so you can fill it as much or as little as you want, leaving you with more space in your car. Plus, there are handles for easy lifting and moving. Keeping everything in one spot will be so helpful during your trip so you’re not searching in your trunk or back seat for everything you need during the drive.

Insulated Tumbler

This might seem a little obvious, but don’t forget to bring something to drink during your drive! I love to bring an insulated tumbler during a long trip to keep my drinks cool throughout the entire drive, this one is my favorite right now. There’s nothing worse than a hot water bottle after hours in the car.

Snacks and More Snacks

Similar to bringing something to drink, having snacks is also essential. This means less stops and preventing anyone from getting hangry. Instead of bringing tons of chip bags, fruit, or whatever you like to much on, try packing your snacks in advance with these silicone bags. This will prevent you from having a bunch of food and trash laying around in the car, and the bags are completely reusable so you can use them throughout your entire trip.

Entertainment

Road trips are fun, but let’s be honest, sometimes sitting in the car for hours on end can get a little boring. I always try and bring some sort of entertainment because we can only listen to so much music and so many podcasts. I love bringing a book for the drive (and for my vacation) since reading definitely helps pass the time. I’m reading Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens right now and I highly recommend it! If you’re not the type that can read in the car, try out this fun road trip game!

Disinfectant Wipes

Just in case there’s a spill or a mess, make sure to bring some disinfectant wipes. You never know when you might need them and I think they’re great to keep in the car even beyond a road trip. I like to keep my wipes in this stainless-steel dispenser for easy access and to keep wipes fresh.

After you’ve grabbed everything you’re bringing on your road trip, packing it is the next step. Check out how I packed my car organizer in this video to keep things organized for our beach trip! Psstt… if you’re headed to the beach, here’s everything you should bring on that trip, too.

What are some of your road trip essentials? Let me know in the comments!
