With a new season fast approaching, I’ve been trying to add some new healthy habits to my daily routine. It might seem a little daunting to do this at first, so that’s why I’m starting somewhat small. The first habit I’m getting into? Getting better sleep! I always try and get a decent amount of hours nightly, but sometimes late nights happen or I’ll go through a period of time where I’m not prioritizing my sleep. It really makes a difference in how I feel (obviously), but also my productivity, mood, and energy levels are always better. The nights when I get a solid, restful night’s sleep yield the best days afterward. I’ve started using a few things that have really helped me catch those zzzs and wake up feeling amazing. I rounded up everything I rely on in today’s post!

Kindle E-Reader

I think most of us know that looking at our phones or other screens before bed makes it harder to fall asleep and stay asleep. Staring at a screen stimulates our brain and keeps us awake! It can be difficult to not pick up my phone and do a last-minute scroll before bed, so I’ve been making an effort to plug my phone in and grab a book (or e-reader) instead! If you didn’t know, I’m a huge reader and spent a lot of time this summer diving into different books. I even wrote a whole post on my favorites! Getting cozy and reading before bed has been a great way for me to get into relaxation mode. My Kindle has been my absolute go-to for this since I can brighten or darken the screen easily, and when I finish my book I can quickly download a new one.

Noise Machine

Being from New York, I’m used to constant noise surrounding me, even when I go to sleep! I definitely have adjusted a bit but I always sleep better when I use a noise machine. Having some sort of quiet sound when I’m sleeping always helps me rest deeper and sleep through the night. I love this noise machine since the white noise is created by a real fan, producing light sounds of rushing air. I don’t need noises from the rainforest or beach, I don’t think I would be able to sleep with those LOL, but this light fan sound is perfect.

Sleep Mist

I had never really used a diffuser or a sleep mist before, but once I tried this sleep mist, I knew I was never going back! It has chamomile and lavender essential oils for the most calming and natural sleep aid using aromatherapy. When I first started using a sleep mist, I thought you were supposed to spray it directly on your pillowcase. I soon learned that spraying it on your pillowcase makes the smell a little bit too strong, and if anything it was a little distracting. Make sure to spray the mist in the air around your bed for a light and subtle scent that will work wonders!

Cozy PJs

This might be a no-brainer, but to get good sleep you have to have a cozy pair of pajamas! No one wants to wear something uncomfortable to bed, so find a good pair of PJs and grab multiple sets. I always reach for this PJ set from Amazon! I know I get a little hot at night so I’m always buying lighter pajamas that I’ll be comfortable and cozy in with all of my blankets. I know pajamas aren’t something we really want to spend money on, but I’m telling you, grab some comfortable sets and you’ll be so glad you did.

Hot Tea or Other Warm Drinks

I don’t make hot tea every night, but when I do, I instantly get super sleepy and ready for bed. There really is nothing better than curling up in bed with tea, a good book, and a cozy PJ + blanket situation. That’s just asking for the best sleep ever! There are so many different herbal teas to choose from, or you can also grab something with melatonin in it for a little extra help to fall asleep. I like poring my tea in a cute mug to really complete my evening R & R.

I think the biggest component to good sleep is creating a restful environment, so find ways to create your perfect bedtime setup and get your snooze on. Let me know your best sleep tips in the comments!
