How to Pack a Car Essentials Pouch

Lately, I’ve been spending a good amount of time in the car between different summer road trips, driving to New York to see family, and just going from day-to-day errands! Regardless if you spend a lot or a little time in the car, I’ve noticed how much having a car essentials pouch stocked and ready in my car has saved me! During travel or every day, I’m always reaching for something inside.

If you’re wondering what I mean by a car essentials pouch, let me break it down for you. It’s a pouch or bag that permanently lives in your car with anything you might need that you normally wouldn’t keep in your purse constantly. Sometimes when we’re going on longer road trips I like to stock it with additional items, but today I’m going to give you the step by step on how to pack an everyday car essentials pouch and what exactly you should keep in it.

Step 1: Get Your Pouch

The key is to find a pouch that is a good in-between size- not too big, not too small. You want enough room for all of your essentials but you don’t want anything too big that will take up a lot of space in your car. Step 2: Load it With Wipes

I think the first thing that needs to be in your essentials pouch is allllllll of the wipes. When you’re in the car, you don’t have access to a bathroom (obviously), so wipes are the way to go. I like stocking a few different types of wipes I might need like these sanitizing wipes, individually wrapped feminine wipes, and facial wipes.

Step 3: Add First Aid

You never know when you or someone in your car might need a bandaid so I like stocking my pouch with this first aid kit. It has all of the basic necessities like different types of bandaids, antiseptic wipes, anti-sting wipes, gauze pads, cotton swabs, and more! The best part is that it is super compact and will fit in your pouch with ease!

Step 4: Don’t Forget Your Beauty Faves

Last but not least, add your beauty favorites to your pouch. This is going to be different for everyone so it’s really up to your discretion on what you want to include from this category. Here is what I like to add to mine:

Hand Cream: Just in case my hands need a little extra moisture!

Zit Patches: I think we’ve all been there when a blemish starts to sneak up on you. I like using these transparent zit patches which heel blemishes but also cover them!

Hair Ties: I usually have a hair tie on hand but for those days when I don’t, it’s so nice knowing I have extras in my essentials pouch! I specifically like these silk hair ties that prevent breakage and are super comfortable to wear.

Step 5 (Optional): Add Something for Your Furry Friends

This last step is optional but since we have a dog I always like to consider any pet things we might need! We will take our dog, Merlin, in the car with us so I keep these animal waste bags in the car pouch. Whenever we bring Merlin with us I always make sure to bring the pet essentials, but sometimes things are forgotten, so it’s nice to have these in the car as a backup!
